About Flanagans
Les Flanagan lives with his wife and son Jason in the Crawley Down area.
Having been in the trade for over 40 years and a Master Butcher for over 20, he has an Advanced Hygiene Certificate. Les buys and sells from local farmers where possible but also trades at times with Smithfield Market.
Flanagan Butchers has been in Crawley Down for nearly 20 years and enjoys a lively trade serving customers from all the surrounding villages; in fact customers regularly travel from further afield including East Grinstead, Horley, Crawley and Horsham.
Flanagan Butchers have a number of loyal and experienced staff including a number with over 40 year in the trade. Les has provided work opportunities for many local youngsters over the years, some of whom go on to take up butchery as a trade. His son, Jason also currently works with his Dad.
The shop has received high praise over the years with articles appearing in the Meat Trades Journal and in local newspapers. The shop and Les also appear in the recent Crawley Down Village video.

Testimonials printed in the Meat Trades Journal
We shop here because we don't like the meat sold in supermarkets. We have travelled 10 miles to get here - we heard about this butcher's shop so we thought we'd try it. I like the service, it's good quality meat and it's quite tender - we especially like the ham and the sirloin. We probably come here once a month and we like to give the business to the independent butcher rather that the supermarkets.
Mr and Mrs Sutton of Crawley
It's a nice shop. The quality is great - the service especially and, of course, the meat. We come here mainly at the weekends to stock up. We mostly buy legs of lamb and steak.
Mr and Mrs Palmer, Crawley Down.
I prefer buying meat here than in the supermarkets - the meat is consistent and I know what I am getting at the end of the day. I suppose I am also of a generation more used to buying meat from a butcher's shop. There are some supermarkets that I will buy meat from but I come here once a week. I like the barbecue range.
