International Tree Foundation

planting protecting promoting trees

Welcome to the International Tree Foundation's page on the Crawley Down Village Website.

We are a UK charity which promotes an appreciation of trees, both in the UK and overseas.

In the UK, we work with schools, corporations and individuals to promote the importance of planting new trees, and of protecting established ones. We run schemes to help people plant trees to commemorate a special occasion and campaign to save woodlands and individual trees under threat.

Internationally, we work with non-governmental organisations in developing countries, to support sustainable projects run by and for local communities. These projects involve promoting awareness of arboriculture and the need to maintain biodiversity, protecting existing trees, and planting trees that provide food and income for local people.

As the longest-established tree charity in the UK, we draw on 80 years experience in the field to provide a wealth of knowledge that has never been more valuable than in the current period of environmental change.

Planting trees

We seek opportunities to plant trees in appropriate areas to improve the environment, benefit people and provide a lasting legacy.

National tree Week

National Tree Week runs for just over a week from 26th Nov - 6th Dec and to celebrate, ITF are organising the planting of an Oak Tree in the centre of Crawley Down Village, in association with the Royal Oak Pub on Thursday 4th December at 1pm. Local Tree Warden Mike Watts and members of ITF team will be present along with a few schoolchildren from Crawley Down Village School and possibly local press coverage, if they can make it.

Protecting trees

We work to conserve trees and endeavour to respond effectively where possible to issues that concern the continued existence of trees for the benefit of all.

Promoting trees

We engage with individuals and communities to ensure that trees are considered an important and valued part of our lives
